Not For Profit - why is that important?

Ferment! Festival is an not-for-profit event run exclusively by a bunch of passionate foodies that are actually working, at the helm, of the food and beverage industries of NZ. This event is all about the small guys helping out the other small guys and most importantly SUPPORTING LOCAL.

When you buy a ticket (or 12) you actually are supporting local producers from across NZ directly by helping to give them a space to show off their goods, their stories and their craft.

We've teamed up with the brand new Feed the Future Foundation so that $1 from each ticket (and all other profits) will be going direct to them. This will pay for cutting edge textbooks and resources on food education/health/production and science all made exclusively for kiwi kids of all ages.

Being a not-for-profit event makes all the difference in the world. It means that the money gained is going directly into helping out the artisan producers involved. We've already teamed up with a bunch of other organisations including the Realness Movement, Slow Food Auckland and Cuisine Magazine to ensure that not just Ferment Festival at The Cloud but many other events start to happen throughout the year that will help to spread the message of artisanal producers and fermented foods. Other food events aren't run by people in the food industry, it is for that reason that they aren't aware of the importance of helping out the small producers. These events are a big expense for the little guys which means they can't be a part of them.

Ferment is a revolt against that. It is small guys sticking up for each other. That is the kiwi way!
